Boiler FAQs – Gas Tech Plumbers

Answers to your most common questions about boiler installation, servicing, repairs, warranties and customer support.

1. Boiler servicing, safety & warranties

Q. Do I need an annual service for my boiler warranty?
Yes – most boiler manufacturers require a service every 12 months to keep your warranty valid. An annual check by one of our Gas Safe registered engineers also helps maintain efficiency, safety and reliability.

Q. What does a boiler service include?
A standard boiler service with Gas Tech Plumbers usually includes:

  • Visual inspection of the boiler and flue

  • Safety checks (including gas pressure and ventilation)

  • Cleaning key components where required

  • Checking for leaks, corrosion or wear

  • Testing performance and efficiency

  • Completing your service record or digital report

If we spot any issues, we’ll explain your options clearly before carrying out additional work.

Q. How long does a boiler service take?
Most services take 30–60 minutes, depending on the boiler type, age and condition. We’ll let you know if we anticipate needing longer.

Q. Is it safe to use my boiler if it hasn’t been serviced for a while?

If your boiler hasn’t been serviced in over a year, we recommend booking a safety check as soon as possible. While it may still be working, an unserviced boiler can be unsafe and less efficient.

2. Boiler installation

3. Quotes, pricing & payment

At Gas Tech Plumbers Limited, we carry out boiler installations safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to your home. Our engineers assess your heating needs, recommend the right boiler, and complete the installation to industry standards. We also ensure your new system is fully tested, explained, and ready to run smoothly before we leave.

Q. Are your quotes fixed-price?
Yes – our quotes are free and fixed-price. We keep pricing clear and transparent, with no hidden extras, so you know exactly what you’re paying for before any work starts.

Q. What’s included in my boiler installation quote?
Your quote will normally include:

  • The boiler itself and standard flue

  • Necessary fittings and pipework

  • Labour and installation costs

  • Disposal of your old boiler

  • Registration of your warranty

  • VAT

If something is optional (for example, smart controls or an upgraded filter), we’ll label it clearly so you can decide.

Q. Do you offer finance or payment plans?
If you’d like information on spreading the cost of a new boiler, please contact us directly. We’ll explain the options available and help you choose what’s right for you.

Q. How can I pay for my boiler or repair?
We accept common payment methods such as debit/credit card, bank transfer and cash (exact options can be confirmed when booking). Payment details will be clearly stated on your quote or invoice.

4. Repairs, breakdowns & emergencies

Q. Do you provide boiler servicing and repairs?
Yes – we offer full boiler servicing and repair for all major makes and models. Whether you need:

  • A routine annual check

  • A performance tune-up

  • An urgent breakdown repair

Our Gas Safe registered engineers are available across Burnley and the surrounding areas. We carry common replacement parts to complete many repairs on the same day.

Q. What should I do if I smell gas or suspect a carbon monoxide leak?
If you smell gas or suspect a leak:

  1. Turn off the gas at the meter (if safe to do so)

  2. Open doors and windows to ventilate

  3. Do not use electrical switches, naked flames or smoke

  4. Leave the property if necessary

  5. Call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately (on the UK emergency number)

  6. Once safe, contact us to check and repair your boiler or pipework.

If your CO alarm sounds, follow the same steps and treat it as an emergency.

Q. Can you fix my boiler if it’s an older model?
In many cases, yes. However, for very old or obsolete boilers, parts may be hard to source. If a repair isn’t cost-effective, we’ll provide an honest recommendation and a no-obligation quote for a replacement.

Q. Do you offer emergency call-outs?
If you have no heating or hot water, or another urgent issue, contact us and we’ll prioritise emergency cases wherever possible. Availability can vary depending on time of year and demand.
